Meet Our Team

Denise Painter

Founder and President

 

Ms. Painter served as Director of Congressional Affairs at the Department of Veterans Affairs where she was awarded a Meritorious Service Award for her work  She also held senior White House political appointments at the Department of War (Defense) where she was responsible for issues relating to drug interdiction and health.  Later she was appointed to the  Department of Energy, and served at the U.S. House of Representatives Science Committee.  She has been running her own consulting firm for the last decade.

As a military dependent and former senior government appointee, she brings a distinctive understanding of the challenges facing service members and their families—insight she now applies through her work with the Foundation. She holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of South Carolina.

Darin Gaub

Lieutenant Colonel (retired), US Army (1991-2019)

Board Member

​

Lt. Col. Darin Gaub is a retired U.S. Army officer with 26 years of service. A fourth-generation proud Montanian, he enlisted and was first assigned to the U.S. Army Presidential Honor Guard. He earned a bachelor’s degree at Montana State University and holds to master's degrees.

 

He went on to serve as an Army Aviation Officer, flying Blackhawk helicopters and commanding units up to the brigade level.

​

During his career, he completed multiple deployments including South Korea, North Africa, Afghanistan, Central and Eastern Europe, and various assignments across the United States. He was awarded three Bronze Stars and other honors for his honorable service.

​

Today, he is also a commentator and analyst on military strategy and foreign policy.

Porter Davis

Board Member

​

Mr. Davis is a Principal of the Woodhull Group, He has over twenty-five years of experience in the consulting business and has worked with clients ranging from multinational corporations and nascent startups to nonprofits and NGOs.

​

He also served four years at the White House in the Office of Presidential Personnel during the administration of George H. W. Bush.

​

Mr. Davis is active in the community and has served on the boards of several nonprofit organizations. He has served as a National Director of the Navy League of the United States, President of the Portsmouth, NH Council of the Navy League, and Chairman of the Commissioning Committee for USS Manchester.

​

He holds an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and a BA in Politics from Washington and Lee University.

Honorable Scot Faulkner
Board Member

Mr. Faulkner is on the leadership team of the Photobiomodulation (PBM) Foundation [501c3 nonprofit]. The PBM Foundation supports research on, and adoption of, PBM Therapy worldwide. It also develops PBM Therapy curriculum for medical and nursing schools.  He is a member of the New England Journal of Medicine’s (NEJM) Healthcare Innovation Council.

He was the first Chief Administrative Officer of the U.S. House of Representatives. Earlier, Mr. Faulkner was Director of Personnel for the Reagan Campaign and served on the Presidential Transition and the White House Staff, holding many executive positions within the administration. Mr. Faulkner’s private sector experience strategic transformation for major global corporations.

 Mr. Faulkner earned a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from American University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Government from Lawrence University.  He studied at the London School of Economics and Georgetown University.  He is the Vice President of Shepherd University’s George Washington Institute of Living Ethics.
